It’s Wednesday and my head is spinning. Fast week, a lot going on in the Sea & Sand world, but I’m managing to get by! I recently took up running and I can honestly say, it has completely changed my outlook on stress. As my mom says, it’s always important to make time for yourself. So between that and almond butter …it’s basically one of the best decisions I’ve made this year.
Given my new take on fitness, and clean eating (not by choice – if you see donuts on my IG, those pics are 3-4 months old. I miss them 🙁 ) this new lease on life has sparked a lot of creativity. Which was seriously needed! But that’s for another post! Onto the #ootd.
In my last post, I definitely broke down a few of my cardinal rules regarding my personal style. The main one I never mentioned? Comfort! It doesn’t matter how cute the piece is – if you aren’t comfortable in it, it will show. Confidence while tugging and adjusting? Out the window. But the ease and comfort of wearing this jumpsuit: unmatched. I know I will be living in this during the weekends this summer. I may also have to grab it in another color!
If you’re in the short crowd like myself (babygirl is 5’2″), this jumpsuit is also clutch, because it has a tassel drawstring around the waist. It can adjust to fit your size and hit all the right spots – no matter what your height. Always a plus in my book!
Places I’d wear it: Definitely to the obvious brunch (which I will always condone here, on Biz & Brunch ;)), a day date, trip to the mall, or my favorite: day drinking.
Also, if you want to avoid looking like a singular Banana in a Pajama, you can’t forget your accessories to get the most out of this piece.
I did my best to add classic accent pieces that really drove look the home, like this monogram choker, layered with a simple initial pendant. I’ve been big on monogrammed things the last few years, which is a little questionable considering my initials are straight outta Compton (NWA some ways) and/or spell a word (NAW the real way!). Sometimes I can laugh about it, sometimes it’s unfortunate. What can ya do. I didn’t choose this life. This life chose me.
I chose a denim jacket to top the look off, because if you’re anything like me, you are regularly taken aback by freezing A/C temperatures. So a jacket to top this sleeveless jumpsuit off was a must. This particular jean jacket I’ve admittedly had since the 9th grade, and it still gets compliments 13 years later (it pained me to type that, I am OLD)! We have been through it ALL. High school, college, and yuppie-hood. Not to mention, all over the country (#airplaneblanket). I’ve had a lot of great memories in this thing. I really can’t think of a better staple you NEED in your wardrobe that will be timeless, and goes with anything/everything; no matter what your style. From dresses to activewear – if you don’t have one in your closet now, I definitely recommend adding one!
As for the envelope clutch, this bad boy is actually my designated evening-wear piece that has seen a lot of special events over the years. And a few vodka/soda spills. Very rare that I’ll pair it with my casual outfits, but with this jumpsuit – it was necessary. A lot of my bags are crossbody and didn’t balance well with the sleeveless look of the onesie. It’s neutral cream color is just the right touch for any outfit. Perfect time to mix the best of both worlds with this trusty guy!
Lastly, pairing this jumpsuit with a good pair of sandals completed the look as relaxed, but still polished.
So if you’re gonna look like a Banana in a Pajama, you might as well grab your clutch, your cognac sandals, make like Lisa Rinna and own it (shoutout to my fellow Real Housewives of Beverly Hills viewers).
